cameron in 2 days, 1 night
Strawberry farms and a steamboat dinner on the first day, then the Mossy Forest and tea at Sungei Palas early on the second, before the winding drive down.
Day 1 Up the hill
- Morning
- Leave KL early and drive up via Tapah or Simpang Pulai, about 3.5 to 4 hours. The last stretch is winding, so take it slowly and stop if anyone feels carsick.
- Lunch
- Lunch in Tanah Rata, where most of the restaurants are, then check in.
- Afternoon
- Drive up to the strawberry and vegetable farms around Brinchang and Kea Farm, about 15 minutes away, longer in weekend traffic. Pick your own strawberries, or have them in a dessert.
- Evening
- Steamboat for dinner, the classic cold-weather meal, with vegetables from the local farms.
- Night
- On a weekend, walk the Golden Hills night market after dinner for snacks and souvenirs. Wear your jacket.
Day 2 Mossy Forest and tea
- Morning
- Go up to the Mossy Forest on Gunung Brinchang early, when the views are clearest. Many people go with a 4WD tour, as the road up is narrow and rough.
- Lunch
- On the way down, stop at the BOH Sungei Palas tea centre for scones and tea above the plantation. The view from the café is the classic one.
- Afternoon
- Drive home, 3.5 to 4 hours. Start down by early afternoon so you're off the winding stretch before the rain and the dark.
Good to know
- Bring a jacket. Nights drop to the mid-teens.
- Book the Mossy Forest tour the day before, through your hotel or a tour counter in Tanah Rata.
- At weekends the main road through Brinchang crawls by late morning, so leave KL early and aim to be up the hill by lunch.
