Brno is Czechia's second city, a student town with a lively café scene, a castle on the hill and some of Europe's best modernist buildings. It sits between Prague and Vienna, with far fewer tourists than either.

Good to know
- Book Villa Tugendhat tickets weeks ahead; the tours are small and sell out.
- Turkish and Middle Eastern places in the centre are the easiest halal option; Czech beef dishes can still contain bacon or lard.
