beseri
Boardwalks over Tasik Melati, sunset at Timah Tasoh and limestone hills over the paddy.
- Best time
- December to March is the driest time in Perlis, with clear evenings at the lakes. April to June is hotter but brings the Harumanis season. The paddy is green a month or two after planting and gold just before harvest.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 5.5 hours' drive from KL on the North–South Expressway, then about 15 minutes north of Kangar. The ETS stops at Arau, about 25 minutes away.

Beseri is a farming district in the middle of Perlis, and its two lakes are the reason to come. Tasik Melati is a reservoir laced with boardwalks and pavilions over the water, and Timah Tasoh, the big reservoir ten minutes north, is the place for sunset, with limestone hills rising out of the paddy all around.

Good to know
- Bring water and a hat. The boardwalks have little shade in the middle of the day.
- Stay off the paddy bunds and keep farm tracks clear for the tractors.
