mu ko ang thong national park
Day trip from Samui to 40-odd islands and an emerald saltwater lagoon.
- Best time
- February to September is generally the calmest. Rough seas from about October to December can cancel boats, and the park may close for part of that time.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Ko Samui via Bangkok, or fly to Surat Thani and take the ferry across. Day tours leave from Samui and Ko Pha Ngan, about 1–1.5 hours by speedboat.

A marine national park of 42 limestone islands in the Gulf of Thailand, west of Ko Samui. Day trips take in kayaking between sheer cliffs, a steep climb to a viewpoint and a green saltwater lagoon in the middle of an island. It's protected, so there's very little built here apart from a ranger station and a few park bungalows.
Things to do

Good to know
- Wear proper shoes for the viewpoint climb. It's steep, rocky and slippery after rain.
- Swimming in the lagoon isn't allowed.
- Some sunscreen ingredients are banned in Thai marine parks, so bring a reef-safe one.
