The Taj Mahal, red sandstone forts and marble craft beside the Yamuna.
- Best time
- February–March and October–November are the best months for sightseeing. May–June is extremely hot, the monsoon brings rain from July to September, and December–January fog can hide the Taj at dawn.
- How long
- 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- Fly direct from KL to Delhi (about 5.5 hours). Fast trains from Delhi take about 2 hours, or it's about 4 hours by road on the expressway. India is 2.5 hours behind KL.

Agra is the city of the Taj Mahal, but it's worth a night rather than a rushed day trip. The Mughal fort, riverside gardens and the 'Baby Taj' fill in the rest of the story.

Good to know
- Agra has a large Muslim community, and halal Mughlai food is easy to find, especially around the Jama Masjid in the old city.
- Food, big bags and tripods aren't allowed inside the Taj, so leave them at the hotel.
