Nepal starts in Kathmandu, with temple courtyards and stupas in a Himalayan valley and Bhaktapur's old brick squares nearby. Pokhara is the lakeside base for Annapurna views, Chitwan National Park is rhinos and river canoes in the warm south, and Namche Bazaar is the Sherpa town on the Everest trail. Kathmandu is about four and a half hours direct from KL, with short domestic flights on to Pokhara and Chitwan.
